Michigan sells out small Businesses and citizens for foreign businesses.
Michigan continues it's self serving ways of selling out it's own small businesses by giving huge tax breaks and low lease rates on property to large foreign companies. Oblivious of the over taxed small businesses and citizens which once made it the great state it was the State continues to put all the tax burdens on small businesses and citizens while passing out the huge tax breaks. Most of these companies that do receive the tax breaks are usually gone by the time the tax breaks are up and never have to face paying the normal huge taxes. LANSING, Mich. -- A German auto parts supplier plans to open its new North American headquarters at the decommissioned Wurtsmith Air Force Base in Iosco County.
Seissenschmidt Corp., the North American subsidiary of Germany's Seissenschmidt-Group, will invest an initial $1.3 million to set up its headquarters in the tax-free Renaissance Zone on the former base.
The Michigan Economic Growth Authority on Tuesday approved a Single Business Tax credit worth $516,000 over seven years to win the investment, and Oscoda Township has proposed a low-cost lease to support the project.
Oscoda Township is about 200 miles north of Detroit.
Company President Urs Schaffluetzel said Seissenschmidt-Group also considered locating its North American headquarters in North Carolina, but settled on Michigan because it was closer to its customer base. It's Seissenschmidt's first manufacturing facility to be built outside Europe.
The company's forged precision components are used in powertrain and driveline technology by automotive manufacturers and suppliers.
Wurtsmith closed as an air force base in 1993. It has been redeveloped to include housing, a local airport and private businesses.
