Put the blame where it belongs - by Lary Thornton 03/30/2009 @ 11:23 AM

Maybe it’s time for Michigan residents to put the blame for the failing Michigan economy and the demise of the auto industry on the real culprits. Michigan’s failed economy which is the worse in the nation is the direct derivative of an inept greedy Governor and legislature that taxed and over regulated businesses and citizens for almost the last eight years.

  1. Instead of forcing just the automakers to restructure it would make more sense to force the bloated Michigan government which has failed more miserably than the automakers to restructure also.
  2. Instead of Rick Wagoner stepping down it would be for Michigan economy’s best interest for Jennifer Granholm to step down
  3. Legislators should repeal the excessive business taxes that have driven many businesses out of this state.
  4. Legislators should repeal all the laws that have robbed citizens of constitutional rights and created rights as privileges so fees could be collected.
  5. Force Government to work for the people instead of working for bigger government.

Aluminum Prices - by Lary Thornton 02/13/2009 @ 0:32 PM

In the news, one of the leading producers of Aluminum products announced that it will be laying off or downsizing at least 13,500 jobs in 2009. Alcoa, which makes various aluminum products and ships worldwide will also be consuming about 750,000 metric tons per year less for their products which will be making a significant dent in Aluminum demand and prices.

Please note that our prices are subject to price confirmation via telephone, so call before bringing non-ferrous and ferrous materials. Please also note that winter conditions may affect which materials we are taking or processing during the winter months.

Now do you see ! - by Lary Thornton 10/26/2008 @ 10:38 AM

Well people now do you see what happens when government prints trillions of dollars worth of worthless bills or notes and just throws it out in an open market ?  Have fun, it is only the beginning of what it has cost you the taxpayers to protect big government and huge executive bonuses and pay checks.

Small Businesses Sold Out - by Lary Thornton 04/17/2007 @ 10:56 PM

Michigan sells out small  Businesses and citizens for foreign businesses.

Michigan continues it's self serving  ways of selling out it's own small businesses by giving huge tax breaks and low lease rates on property to large foreign companies. Oblivious of the over taxed small businesses and citizens which once made it the great state it was the State continues to put all the tax burdens on small businesses and citizens while passing out the huge tax breaks. Most of these companies that do receive the tax breaks are usually gone by the time the tax breaks are up and never have to face paying the normal huge taxes. One example is the following article wrote in the Associated press.

German auto supplier to open North American headquarters

LANSING, Mich. -- A German auto parts supplier plans to open its new North American headquarters at the decommissioned Wurtsmith Air Force Base in Iosco County.

Seissenschmidt Corp., the North American subsidiary of Germany's Seissenschmidt-Group, will invest an initial $1.3 million to set up its headquarters in the tax-free Renaissance Zone on the former base.

The Michigan Economic Growth Authority on Tuesday approved a Single Business Tax credit worth $516,000 over seven years to win the investment, and Oscoda Township has proposed a low-cost lease to support the project.

Oscoda Township is about 200 miles north of Detroit.

Company President Urs Schaffluetzel said Seissenschmidt-Group also considered locating its North American headquarters in North Carolina, but settled on Michigan because it was closer to its customer base. It's Seissenschmidt's first manufacturing facility to be built outside Europe.

The company's forged precision components are used in powertrain and driveline technology by automotive manufacturers and suppliers.

Wurtsmith closed as an air force base in 1993. It has been redeveloped to include housing, a local airport and private businesses.

Join the Fight - by Lary Thornton 04/03/2007 @ 0:51 PM

Smith's Auto Salvage urges all our customers and visitors to get involved in the restoration of our Natural Rights and the movements to stop all the abuses being commited against citizens by the Judicial System, Federal Government, State governments and Local Governments. If We The People continue to let our rights be eroded by these corrupt, power hungry, greedy systems then we are all guilty of condemning our children and grandchildren to a life of slavery that will be all but impossible to stop or escape. Slavery to a corrupt and greedy system that is far worse than the rulers our forefathers overthrew.  For links to groups and sites opposing these abuses go to http://www.larythornton.com and get involved today, tomorrow may be too late!
